Beitou Thermal Valley Aka Hell Valley

Located in Datun Mountains area, Beitou District, Taipei City next to XinBeitou Park is Beitou Thermal Valley. The valley is known as Geothermal Valley due to its high temperature ranging 80 to 100 degrees Celsius.


The jade-like spring is unsuitable for body contacts being a hydrochloric acid. It was known as Hell Valley because it injures tourist who attempt to go near the spring. Taipei government established the region with fences around the valley for safety of the visitors. 

The area around the Thermal Valley has a rare type of rock called hokutolite. These rocks contain the radioactive element Radium, where it can only find naturally in 2 countries, Japan and Beitou, Taiwan.


Beitou Thermal Valley is opens its gates from Tuesday to Sunday 9:00am to 5:00pm

How to go to Beitou Thermal Valley?

From Taipei Main Station, ride MRT Red Line (Tamsui Line) and drop off to Beitou Station, then transfer to MRT Xinbeitou Line.

Upon exit, walk towards Guanming Rd and pass Beitou Hot Springs to reach the Geothermal Valley.
