Foreigners Bringing Banned Items Can Be Barred From Entering Taiwan

Any foreign nationals that brings and found banned items can be barred from entering Taiwan if it is necessary according to the health authorities of the country. Even after the amendment of raise to NT$1Miilion fine of smuggling meat products from areas affected by the African Swine Fever (ASF), there still number of foreigners that bring banned items.


Foreigners are free to leave the country without paying the fine according to a Taiwanese lawyer but with some tickets being unpaid. On the new amendment of the Immigration Act foreigners pay the fines or provide a guarantee for a violation, unless will be barred from entering Taiwan.

Customs officers are allowed to bar foreign tourists and visitors if found banned items as ordered by the National Immigration Agency of Taiwan.
