US Companies In Taiwan Are Less Poised About The Economic Outlook This Year


According to Chamber of Commerce (AmCham), United States based companies that operates in Taiwan are less confident regarding the economic outlook of the country for 2018.


The concerns include trade disputes between US and China, Chinese pressure, cybersecurity, intellectual property rights infringments and US trade policy. As the survey said that only less than 50% are optimistic regarding the economic growth in the next three years.

The US-China trade war is the biggest concern and threat to the local economy, the pressure on China over Taiwan also a factor as US based companies expressing concerns but willing to continue operations in Taiwan.

Respondents also are less satisfied with the company’s ability to recruit suitable talent of manpower with the survey also drops as young talents are moving to Hong Kong and China.
