Philippine 2019 Midterm Election For Filipinos Starts In Taiwan


On April 13, 2019 Filipinos in Taiwan can start voting for the midtern elections in Taiwan. Registered Filipino absentee voters can vote in their registered Manila Economic & Cultural Office (MECO) site in Taipei, Taichung and Kaohsiung, the voting will start on April 13 to May 13, 2019.


MECO also reminded Filipino registered voters to bring a government issued identification card (ID) in order to vote. Voter will select local officials, district representatives to the lower house, 12 nationally elected senators and a party list for the mid term seat of President Rodrigo Duterte.

As per diplomatic rites of the country even OFW are not in the Philippines, they are still entitled to vote according to MECO. There are only 17,000 Filipino registered voters in Taiwan out of the 123,000 OFW working and stays in the country.

Voters can casts their votes from 8am to 5pm from April 13 to May 13 in Meco offices except on Maundy Thursday at Good Friday (April18-19).
