Semiconductor Industry To Boost In 2nd Half of 2019 According To SPIL Chairman

The semiconductor industry in Taiwan will have a boost and compete with the global market in the 2ndhalf of 2019 and pick up significantly, according Bough Lin, chairman of Siliconware Precision Industries Ltd (SPIL) which is an affiliate one of the top semiconductor ASE Technology holdings.

One of the main cues is the 2020 Tokyo Olympics that will take place in July to August in Japan, with Tokyo up for orders for the advanced technologies specially in semiconductor industry.

There are still more uncertainty in inventory levels on customer countries like Europe, US, China and the Southeast Asian markets. Meanwhile, Taiwan’s top semiconductor company Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Corp (TSMC) is ready to unveil 3D IC stacking technology by 2021.

With the merger of SPIL and Advanced Semiconductor Engineering, both companies performed better than expected.
