Taiwan To Conduct Air Raid Drills, Advised Public To Stay Indoors

Taiwan will be conducting its 42nd Wan An Exercises or the Air Raid Drills from May 27 to May 30. The four day exercises will include test of Taiwan’s air raid alert systems where regions of the North, Central, South, East and the islands of Penghu, Kinmen and Matsu are included.

It is according to the announcement made by Taiwan’s Ministry of National Defense as it test the country’s airspace threat alert systems and the disaster prevention warning system.

The public is notified through their mobile phones. The alert systems will be conducting at a 30 minute period from 1:30pm to 2:00pm. During this time, the public must stay indoors and public transportation will be restricted.

Several military personnel will be out for drills and simulate quick deployment, evacuation protocol and rapid disaster scenarios.

Those who ignore and violate the regulation of the Wan An exercises of the national military drills will face fine between NT$30,000 (Php50,000) up to NT$150,000 (Php250,000).
