28,000 Chicken Slaugthered In Changhua Due To H5N2 Virus Of Bird Flu


According to Taiwan’s Bureau of Animal and Plant Health Inspection and Quarantine (BAPHIQ), a poultry farm in Changhua County’s Fangyuan Township was infected with the H5N2 strain of the avian flu or bird flue which is a threat to the health of the public. This is the the 26th case recorded for bird flu in only this year.


To quarantine the place and protect neighboring farm, the bureau ordered to culled or slaughter the 27,960 chickens as reported by CNA. Earlier this year 32,000 chicken have also been culled due to bird flu which also in Changhua County, the largest culling in a single poulty farm.

The alertness of the farm owner and voluntarily seek the presence of authoroties regarding the disease to prevent widespread of the virus. During test and checking, it is confirmed that disease and virus found in the poultry farm. Authorities have cleared the area 

The Bureau of Animal and Plant Health Inspection and Quarantine adivised the public that with increased temperatures, it also increases the infection among livestock.

Anyone found guilty abandoning animals elsewhere or fail to report such actions are subjected to a fine of NT1 Million (Php1.7 Million).
