Schools In Philippines Soon Required To Provide Chairs For Left-Handed


All educational institutions in the Philippines, private and public will soon require to provide designed chairs for left-handed students. This bill is now under the final reading at the Philippine Senate. The bill aims to promote equal development to students.


With a total of 17 positive votes and no opposed to it, the House Bill 8654 orders and command all educational institutions nationwide whether a public or private school to have appropriate armchairs for left-handed.

Neutral desk will be provided for all students. Under the bill, the armchairs for left-handed students must account for 10% of the total student population in every school.

Department of Education (DepEd), Commission on Higher Education (CHED) and Technical Education and Skill Development Authority (TESDA) will be in charge of articulationg rules and regulation regarding the new bill.
