Labor Groups In Taiwan Calls For 5% Minimum Wage Increase

Solidarity Labor Union and the Labor Rights Association which are labor groups in Taiwan calls for a minimum wage increase prior to the meeting by the Basic Wage Deliberation Committee of the Ministry of Labor.

This 2019, the minimum wage had increased from NT$22,000 to NT$23,100 and the minimum hourly pay was increased by 7.14 percent from NT$140 to NT$150.

The meeting for the minimum wage is set for August 14 and will announce on what will be the decision, it is a annual meeting between the ministry, employers amd other officials.

According to the Ministry of Labor, they already prepared a draft to present at the meeting. There are around 2.5million workers in Taiwan in the group of minimum wage earners.
