ChipMos Technologies Inc to expand its factory plant capacity in Taiwan

ChipMOS Technologies Inc’s NT$15.1 billion (US$486.47 million) plan to expand its capacity in Taiwan, according to the Ministry of Economic Affairs.

ChipMos factory plants from Southern Taiwan Science Park and Hsinchu County’s Jhubei will expand as its current plants in China will return to Taiwan to minimize the impact of the on going US-China trade war.

ChipMos is a packaging and testing service provider for memory chips and display driver ICs. It will accelerate its capacity expansion for driver ICs used in display panels and DRAM packaging capacity.

The expansion is aimed the rapidly growing demand from automotive and 5G-related devices. ChipMos Technology is currently the world’s No. 2 display driver IC manufacturer.
