Filipinos in Taiwan seeks employers to improve safety in workplace

The Filipino community in Taiwan called for different factories to provide safer environments and workplacr for its workers specially those migrant workers who are doing the dangerous work, reported by Central News Agency.

Fidel A. Macauyag, labor attache and director of the Philippine Overseas Labor Office in Taichung, would coordinate with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.

“The government can implement regulations to prevent similar accidents,” he said. “I hope that something can be done to properly protect not only foreign, but local workers.” Macauyag said.

The more improved safety working environment is after an OFW died after chemical accident at Tyntek Corporation based in Miaoli. Lack of proper training on both usage of dangerous chemical and no proper first aid was given.
