Labor reform of Taiwan to ensure equality for their elderly workers

The Executive Yuan of Taiwan will introduce a draft act that ensures the quality of workplace between the middle aged and the elderly workers. Lawmakers in Taiwan seeks for a workplace solution to retain elderly workers.

Taiwan has its own issue when it comes to labor shortage and the country having an aging population, the draft act will allow employers to offer new contracts to workers aged 65years and above.

The previous regulation, 65years old were forced to retire. The new draft in Taiwan will also provide subsidies to employers offering on-the-job training to employees aging 45 to 65.

More subsidies will be given to a company with a high number 65years workers for a sustained period of time, this is to encourage the middle-aged and elderly friendly working environment. Violation on labor regulation could be fine up to NT$1.5million.
