Taiwan Open To Hire Migrant Workers To Do Farming Jobs

Due to the labor shortage and lack of manpower in Taiwan, the country will see the arrival of migrant workers that will be working on farms. The shortage in agricultural labor alarms Ministry of Labor to relax ruling in hiring migrants for farm jobs.

The first batch of agriculture migrant workers will arrive by end of the year. More than 300 workers from other countries (mostly Southeast Asia) will be taking up on-farm jobs in Taiwan.

There were already 54 participants / interns that are scattered to 45 farms which have agricultural related courses.

According to news reports, the participants will receive a monthly allowance of NT$18,758 or P29,000. If deemed succesful, Taiwan will expand the hiring of migrant workers for farm jobs.
