TECO: More companies from Taiwan will locate in the Philippines preferably in Subic

Investors from Taiwan have expressed confidence on the business outlook in the Philippines specially at the Subic Bay Freeport after the opening of new Taiwanese firm Yubantec, a semi-conductor and electronics trader.

More companies from Taiwan will locate in the Philippines, which is described as Taiwan’s “closest neighbor” according to Taiwan Economic and Cultural Office (TECO) representative Michael Hsu.

“I assure you, the Taiwanese are willing to come to the Philippines to invest. And we have to find enough land for our locators especially in Subic Bay,” said Hsu.

With Yubantec the latest Taiwanese company to locate in Subic free port, there are more facilities improvement projects that attracts investors that includes road constructions, drainage improvements and the expansion of Subic Expressway.

There are currently 61 Taiwanese firms in Subic and one of them is global names like computer giant Wistron Infocomm (Phils.) Corp, lock-maker Tong Lung (Phils.) Metal industry and footwear manufacturer Datian Subic Shoes, Inc.
