Lawmakers in the Philippines proposes a law that would punish wives who will hold their husband’s ATM cards and salaries

In Manila, Philippines Rizal 2nd District. Rep. Fidel Nograles is proposing a law that would punish wives who will hold their husband’s ATM cards and salaries.
Those wives could be charged of economic abuse, according to House Bill No. 4888
The proposed measure seeks to amend and expand the Violence Against Women and Children law to include husbands and LGBTQIA+ partners.
"That was Economic abuse because, they making financially dependent the partner with you and he loses the right to decide how to address his own needs," Nograles said.
"Classic example here is the capturing the partner's ATM card, getting all the wages, then not given the opportunity thier partner to buy or magdecide his or her own expenses,"Nograles added.
A wife has the legal right to secure basic amenities and comfort like food, clothes, residence, education and medical treatment, for herself and her children from the husband. So, understand that as a homemaker, you should not have to ask your husband for money; he is bound by law to provide it to you.
in many traditional forms in every country households, the husband manages the investments while the wife manages daily budgeting and spending.
However in these propose new bill hope to equalize the rights of men and women in terms of financial matters.
