Maintenance report show problems on Nanfangao bridge 3 years ago


In a maintenance report released by the transportation ministry of Taiwan, it shows that the collapsed bridge have damaged expansion joints that was found three years ago, reported by Central News Agency.

The bridge that collapse injure people and killed 6. The report in 2016 states that "obviously warped, damaged and sagging."

According to Taiwan International Ports Corporation, Ltd. (TIPC) who managed the  said bridge that it spent a total of NT$10 million (US$321,700) to clean the expansion joints and fix other problems on the bridge from 2017 to 2018.

Though the report did not mention about the steel cables that snaps that cause the bridge to collapse, which many experts have said were corroded.

According to Ministry of Transportation and Communications a new bridge will be rebuilt at the same location in three years' time.
