Expect a possible lifting of ban in few days says DOLE Sec. Bello III


Thousands of OFW shows frustration to the Philippine government for imposing a politicaly motivated travel ban on Taiwan.

Late Monday, when the Department of Health has included the country of Taiwan on the existing travel ban on China and its administrative region. Thousands of OFW bound to Taiwan are currently on hold as the result of the governments precautionary measures.

Meanwhile, Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III has "requested" the lifting of  the ban the Philippine government has imposed on overseas Filipino workers traveling  to Taiwan.


Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III said,
“We are seeking understanding from our OFWs because the implementation of a temporary ban by the DOH is for your own safety as well. We hope for a possible lifting of the ban in a few days.”

In a statement, Bello said he was in constant coordination with the Department of Health (DOH), the lead agency in dealing with the threat of coronavirus disease 2019.
