President Rodrigo Duterte received Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) founding chairman Nur Misuari in Malacanang, seeking to widen support for his efforts to end the decades-long Muslim rebellion in the south.
“It is with great happiness that I announce to the nation that Chairman Nur Misuari, our brother, who heads the MNLF, has finally decided to just accept my invitation for him to talk to us,” Duterte said.

“We would like to ask that we work together with our Moro brothers and create a country that is really just, good. And that would be for the next generations to come,” he said.

after giving a few words of President Duterte, he allowed Misuari to use the presidential podium for a speech, where the aging rebel leader narrated some of his experiences during the administration of former President Ferdinand Marcos, as well to express his support for Duterte.
Misuari had an arrest warrant for the bloody 2013 Zamboanga City siege which left scores dead. A Pasig City court, however, suspended the arrest warrant.

Misuari led the siege in 2013 to protest the decision of the government of then-President Benigno Aquino III to hold talks with MNLF's breakaway group, the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF).

Misuari traveled to Manila from his lair on the remote southern island of Jolo after a local court suspended a warrant for his arrest over a bloody siege on Zamboanga City in 2013.

Speaking on the President's podium, Misuari assured Duterte of his support for the peace process.

“I told President Duterte, I was determined to stay put in the mountains were it not for his invitation. I cannot reject his invitation. Because I respect him too much. And now I came here to thank him, first for restoring my freedom, if only partially,” Misuari said.

“I know for a fact, he will not abandon his pledge to the people. He said I will give you peace in Mindanao. Is that so, Mr. President? So I support him for that.”

The Bangsamoro Basic Law or BBL would have granted the country's Muslim minority wider powers in an expanded autonomous region.

Misuari also expressed his support for Duterte’s anti-narcotics campaign, saying illegal drugs "are destroying our children, the youth who will succeed us after this."

"I’ve always been saying that drug is a restless, creeping threat to humanity," he said, adding, "This is one of the biggest sources of crimes to humanity."

Misuari also mentioned the Jabidah Massacre, which he said was a pivotal moment in his life that led him to establish the MNLF.
On March 18, 1968, hundreds of young Moros were brought to Corregidor to be trained by the military for a secret mission to help the Marcos government seize control of Sabah from Malaysia. They refused to go and were killed.

Nur Misuari is a big asset to the present administration in finally solving and putting an end to Mindanao problem, whatever his reported shortcomings in the past it could not deny that he has still big followings both the urban and countryside of Mindanao,

he is still one of the most respected Muslim leaders of the country being the one who spearheaded the Muslim struggle for national identity and self-determination.

Misuari fully respects and recognized the sincerity  and genuineness of the leadership of President Duterte especially in putting an end to Mindanao conflict. Misuari can also be an asset to enhancement of better relation of the Philippines with the Muslim world, as he is highly regarded and fully respected by the Islamic ummah

our country is in progress when it comes to peace and order  made by our President Rodrigo Duterte we'd rather seek for peace than another battle with them for the next generation, it is amazing that our president doing this thing for about four months, and so much has been done.
I do now understand what our President Rodrigo Duterte wants now to our country put an end of the past and move forward to real change to country and it's people

President Rodrigo Duterte is the best things to come to this country his a man of his word, this is just the first steps towards peacefulness in Mindanao to stop bloodshed, were all Filipinos fighting each other created a lot of misery and problems of each other, peace is the best solution than the conflict, peace is not merely the absence of war, it is the presence of justice.

President Rodrigo Duterte is a man of many flaws and contradictions but when it comes to securing the lives and future of the Philippines. you can trust him to do the right thing.
