ADVISORY: BUREAU OF CUSTOMS LISTED NONTAXABLE ITEMS FOR "BALIKBAYAN" BOXES? MUST READ!!!


The Bureau of Customs (BOC) is now strict on the packages being sent by the OFW to the Philippines. The BOC is now strictly implementing between the personal consumption and smuggling.

In its Twitter account, @CustomsPH, the bureau listed nontaxable items in limited quantities. These are perfumes, lipsticks, shampoo, lotion, bar soaps, cosmetics, toys, child-care items and household cleaning items.

What is the exemption to be nontaxable?
For these items to be nontaxable, their quantities or volume must not exceed five pieces for perfumes, 10 pieces for lipstick, 2 kilograms for shampoo, 2 kg for lotion, 2 kg for soaps, 1 kg for assorted cosmetics, 10 pieces for toys, 5 kg for child-care items and 5 kg for household cleaning items.

In what way this can be applied?
Items may be brought into the country in passenger baggage, balikbayan boxes or parcels sent by mail or delivery services.

For some medicine and other drugs  to be imported must secure permits from the Department of Health or Food and Drug Administration. And subject to duties when necessary.

BOC said on tweeter “Items with quantity beyond the specified limits will be seized and forfeited in favor of the government,”
