The Ministry of Defense (MND) of Taiwan had warned the owners of Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) or Drone. Several cases of accident and intrusions in the no-fly zone had been violated by the civilian drone owners.

The Ministry of Defense in Taiwan in cooperation with the Civil Aeronautics Administration and
Taiwan police have been vigilant on this issue. Any suspicious flying drone or accident shall  be fined.

Five years imprisonment of the drone owners who will violate the law, the newly amended law and shall take effect starting January 10, 2017. The former laws only covers in No fly zone areas such as airports but now it will cover in crowded areas, drone accidents, and intrusions into the restricted areas.

Last December 2, 2016, there are 15 drone owners had been arrested because of violating the law,
they fly drones on the restricted areas such as airport and military airports. The arrested owners
had been fined with NT$300,000 or US$9,398. 

According to the drone owners, they do not know that there are such laws.Some accidents happened from the past are drone crash at Taipei 101, and in Pingtung Military Airport. Delayed flights had been
recorded due to UAV.

Meanwhile, the authority had warned the drone owners for the fine will be ranging from NT$300,000 to NT$1,000,000.

Local and Foreign nationals are reprimanded to abide the law. And if the civilian drones will be seen in the restricted air spaces in Taiwan, it will be intercepted or shutdown.
