A new and more strict law against sexual harassment and abuse to be implemented?



The Taiwan Ministry of Labor has strengthened more its law in the protection of Foreign workers.

If the agents/broker/employer had been involved in sexual abuse, sexual harassment, and trafficking of a foreign worker and found guilty during the investigation, the labor agent will be fine from NT$300 to NT$1.5 million and will be banned from working as labor agent.

And if the employees/ brokers/ agent be found guilty of sexually abusing or harassing her /his employees they will be banned from hiring a foreign employee for a minimum of 2- 5 years or if repeatedly committed the offense they will be banned for a lifetime.

If the agents/brokers have been found to have known prior to an act of abuse by the employers and fail to disclose to authorities within 24 hours, he or she will be fine ranging from NT$60,000 to NT$300,000.
