Taiwan Responds To President Duterte's Claims As Source Of Illegal Drugs

Taiwan's Ministry Of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) respond to Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte's claims. MOFA spokesperson Eleanor Wang said that Taiwan supports the campaign of war against drugs in the Philippines.

During the president's speech he said that the major source of drugs are coming from China and Taiwan. "The drug trade is an organized crime," he said. "You cannot have an operation of drugs if there is no production process from whatever source -- it could be in China, Taiwan, Philippines."

Philippines and Taiwan have worked together against cross border crime and will seek building more cooperation according to and interview of CNA to spokesperson Eleanor Wang.

112 foreign nationals were arrested in 2016 in the Philippines for drug production or sale, including 44 Chinese and 29 Taiwanese citizens.
