CWB Taiwan issued "ORANGE WARNING" as the Cold Surge to hit the country


Taipei, Taiwan (February 16, 2020)- The Central Weather Bureau of Taiwan has forecasted a sudden dropped of temperature on Sunday night through Monday afternoon. A 90 percent of Chance of raining for Northern part of the country and 80 percent of chance of raining for Central Taiwan. And while the Southern part will be 30 percent of Chance of raining but Taitung county will have 70 percent of chance of raining today.

As of February 15, 2020 at 9:46 p. m the CWB has issued Cold Surge Advisory from Sunday evening (02/16) through Monday afternoon (02/17)


Color-coded cold surge advisory areas:
【Orange (very cold)】
Keelung City, Taipei City, New Taipei City, Taoyuan City, Hsinchu County, Yilan County: Probability of temperature remaining around or below 10°C.
【Yellow (cold)】
Hsinchu City, Miaoli County, Taichung City, Kinmen County: Probability of minimum temperature dropping below 10°C.

Reminders:
1. Take extra care to keep warm
2. Pay attention to indoor ventilation and electricity safety when using a gas water heater and electric heater
3. Avoid prolonged stay in a cold environment, and watch out for respiratory and cardiovascular diseases induced by low temperature
4. Make sure children have protection to keep their head, neck, hands, and feet warm, and care for the elderly, the homeless, and other people vulnerable to cold exposure
5. Pay attention to hand hygiene and cough etiquette as winter is usually flu season, and stay home and rest if you are ill
6. Take precaution to prevent damage to crops and aquaculture

Note 1: Considering its geographical and climate conditions, the criteria for Lienchiang County is 4 degrees lower than the other areas.
