CECC: More surgical masks for Taiwan's residents on mid-April

TAIPEI - The Central Epidemic Control Center reported that on mid-April there will be significant changes in the government's rationing system of surgical face masks to Taiwan's residents.

Residents will be able to purchase nine masks for adults and 10 masks for children every two weeks, this will start on April 9, says Health Minister Chen Shih chung.

Rationing of surgical masks will depend upon person's ID number on their national health insurance. This system will help residents not to line up and just wait for their specific day when they can buy face masks.

And officials say the changes have been made possible due to increased
production of surgical face masks, that were in extremely short supply in
late January and much of February.

The masks will still be available at designated drugstores and pharmacies and cost 5 N-T each.
